The troublesome condition of lazy eye which often causes children to be seen in pirate like eye patches with requirement of medications such as eye drops and so on, could be helped by an expected therapy. The condition is called amblyopia, and is characterized by poor vision in one eye and colloquially termed as lazy eye. New research suggests that acupuncture could be an effective treatment for lazy eye.
When certified acupuncturists administered treatment, it was seen to result in improvement for kids equal to that offered by standard treatment of wearing an eye patch for a couple of hours each day.
The eye patch is worn over the strong eye, to help in exercising the lazy eye; however the acupuncture treatment offered improvement comparable to the wearing of the eye patch.
In the study, progress was seen to be made by both groups – the one that used eye patches as well as the one that used acupuncture.
Acupuncture is used for a lot of different problems, and there are now some reasons to hope that it can offer alternative remedy for lazy eye as well, which is among the most common problems among children, and one that 5% people in the world have.
