January is Thyroid awareness month and the usual therapy prescribed for this disorder by conventional medicine is hormone replacement. However, there are several alternative therapies that could help with thyroid disorders:
- Certain dietary additions or modifications can help with thyroid: iodine supplements, intake of soy, use of coconut oil and other supplements.
- The ancient Chinese art of Acupuncture has been seen to be effective as described here.
- Indian (Ayurveda) and Chinese traditional therapies and medications use alternative therapies for thyroid as set out here. The attempt is to reach the root cause of the problem rather and heal the entire body rather than just a specific ailment.
