Aromatherapy is a process or thereupatic procedure which takes advantage of how scents affect the mind and body and what kinds of benefits it can provide to us. This process has been in practice from ancient times and is still practiced widely. This therapy is mostly done using essential oils which are derived from plant based materials. These days, another form of aromatherapy is gaining popularity and it is known as steam shower aromatherapy.
A steam shower is therapeutic and offers several health benefits which a regular shower cannot offer. Not only does steam cleanses the skin from its very deep layers but also makes the body sweat which in turn helps release toxins. Also, steam shower is capable of improving the blood circulation which is beneficial for not just the skin but also the body as a whole.
Taking a steam shower makes the muscles of the body get relaxed and this in turn reduces the pain. Those who have any kind of respiratory problems will also observe improved breathing and even a relief from allergies or cold after taking steam sessions.
On combining the benefits of both steam sessions and aromatherapy, amazing results can be obtained and this is what the main principle behind steam shower aromatherapy. The following is a method through which aromatherapy can be used in steam showers:
- It is easy to use aromatherapy procedure in prefabricated units of steam showers. If you have a model of steam shower with this feature, then all you need to do is to add a few drops of any of your favorite essential oil into a cup of water and then pour this cup into the aromatherapy cup and turn on the function of steam in the shower.
- In case you do not have a steam shower facility in your shower then you can still diffuse essential oils into your shower and utilize the positive effects of aromatherapy. To do this, what you can do is that you can sprinkle a few drops of your favorite essential oil on the floor of your shower but be careful not to slip. Now take your shower as you normally do and you will notice that the oil has been diffused into the air of your shower or bathroom enclosure.
- In some cases, people put actual plants inside of the shower as the aroma of the plant gets diffused into the air with the steam of the shower. You can then breathe that aroma and avail its many positive benefits. One of the plants that can be placed in the shower is eucalyptus plant.
- You can also use shower bombs which too can have a relaxing effect. To make such shower bombs, you need to mix essential oils with dried lavender, chamomile flowers and baking soda. Add water to this mixture and press it into the form of molds and then dry them out to be used in the shower.
