While I agree that noone should stop conventional medical treatment on a serious condition without a doctor's approval, indicating that a person should consult a doctor before trying Chinese medicine is absurd. This is a tradition with thousands of years of empirical and theoretical knowledge behind it and virtually no evidence of harm being done to patients. Licensed Chinese medicine physicians in the US undergo rigorous training and take several difficult exams on their way to licensure.
