When pregnant, women are reluctant to try on anything new, which hasn’t been tried, tested and above all proven to be safe for their unborn baby as well as their own selves. In the event they are likely to treat the concept of chiropractic care during pregnancy with at least some degree of suspicion.
However, there are many that make a strong argument in favor of using chiropractic treatment during pregnancy, stating that the many internal and external changes that take place in a woman’s body during her pregnancy can be helped with chiropractic treatment.
Also properly trained, responsible chiropractors are well aware of the dos and don’ts when it comes to pregnant women and can offer substantial help with the following:
- The increased curvature of the spine as the weight of the baby increases the bulk in front and changes the center of balance that can cause back pain.
- Enlargement of the abdomen that can cause physical stresses, aches and pains.
- Changes in the pelvis as it try to accommodate the growing baby.
- Changes in posture as a woman’s sense of balance and center of gravity alter.
