Your Front Line Of Defense: Building A Homeopathic First Aid Kit

homeopathic first aid kitEvery home needs a first aid kit, but yours need not be filled with chemical products.

You can put together an homeopathic first aid kit with remedies to treat common conditions.

One of the essential remedies for any home first aid kit is Arnica Montana, both in 30C pellet form, and in a cream or gel form. This is such a handy remedy that it is a good idea to keep some with you whenever you are out and about.

Arnica promotes healing from any injury, and is especially helpful for bruising, swelling, or sore muscles. If someone is injured and their injuries appear serious but they keep insisting they are fine, reach for the Arnica.

Arnica cream or gel can be applied to bruised skin, black eyes, swollen areas, or sore muscles. If the skin is broken, however, do not apply cream or gel.

To use the pellets, take 30C every two hours for up to 6 doses. Then take 3 doses a day for the next 3 days as needed.

For treating insect bites and stings, you will need Apis Mellifica. Apis Mellifica is especially helpful when the area around the sting feels hot, or is red and swollen.

Use the 30C pellets, one about every 15 minutes, for up to 6 doses. Apils Mellifica is also a good choice for treating hives, and can even help you feel better if you have a sunburn.

Nux Vomica is the remedy you should keep on hand for most stomach ailments. It will help with indigestion, heartburn, nausea and vomiting, gas, and bloating.

It can even help with morning sickness. When you feel nauseated and think you would feel better if you threw up, Nux Vomica can make you feel better. If food poisoning is suspected, Arsenicum is the remedy of choice.

For managing the symptoms of a cold, keep Aconite on hand. Aconite should be taken at the first sign of a cold. It can help with fever and chills, sneezing, sore throat, coughs, aches, and flu like symptoms. Allium Cepa can also be helpful in treating colds and cold symptoms, as can Antimonium Tartaricum.

Pulsatilla is another remedy no home should be without. It is the remedy of choice for children who have coughs, earaches, and colds or coughs that produce yellow mucous. It is also a good choice for women who suffer from menstrual problems.

For toothaches and teething pain, keep Belladonna on hand. It is also useful for treating high fevers.

A tincture of Echinacea is useful for cleaning boils, bites and other injuries. It helps promote the formation of pus which speeds the removal of any toxins. Echinacea taken internally can also help strengthen the immune system.

In addition to assembling your own homeopathic first aid kit, you can buy commercially prepared kits that are designed for first aid, or for the treatment of a particular illness or issue. As you study homeopathic remedies, you will notice that there are several remedies known as polycrests; these are remedies that work for a wide variety of conditions, and they make good remedies to keep on hand.

When injuries are serious, seek appropriate medical attention in addition to using homeopathic remedies.
